Rhinitis Relief with Salt Therapy
The Salt Room South Tampa is designed to help rhinitis sufferers alleviate symptoms and feel good in a safe and peaceful environment that resembles a spa rather than a high-tech treatment center.
A Drug-Free Rhinitis Solution
Rhinitis, also known as hay fever, is a highly prevalent disease affecting a large part of the population in the U.S. It doesn’t pose a massive threat but can completely disturb one’s quality of life. Prescription medication is used to treat rhinitis symptoms temporarily, but without addressing the root cause, the symptoms may reoccur in a short span of time. Halotherapy is a completely drug-free and non-invasive treatment that cures rhinitis by addressing the cause of the condition and preventing its recurrence.
Halotherapy May Help Ease Rhinitis Symptoms
Rhinitis, including allergic rhinitis or hay fever, can be a difficult condition to deal with, especially since it doesn’t have a permanent cure. However, halotherapy treatment can help relieve your symptoms immediately. Edema in your nasal mucosa and sinuses can be reduced by halotherapy treatment, leading to the widening of your air passage. This treatment also clears the presence of pathogens like tar, dust, pollen, and smoke that cause rhinitis. Once the airborne pathogens are out of your system, symptoms like watery eyes and itchy nose will go away. Sneezing and coughing will also decrease.
How Salt Therapy Works
Halotherapy treatment occurs in the halochamber, a small room lined with natural rock salt. The environment is controlled and resembles a spa. The patient relaxes while breathing normally as tiny salt particles enter the respiratory system and coat the skin. The air is filled with dry sodium chloride aerosol that has a mass concentration of 1-16 mg/m3 with particles of 1-5 um. A special machine called halogenerator releases the aerosol in the halochamber. The halogenerator has a microprocessor that maintains temperature, relative humidity and mass concentration in the room.

Rhinitis is a common condition that affects the moist lining of the nose and can cause symptoms like excessive sneezing, runny nose and nasal congestion. It can also cause itching of the eyes, ears, nose and throat. It comes in three types, allergic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis and hay fever. Allergic rhinitis usually starts with exposure to allergens like pollen and dust while vasomotor rhinitis happens without the presence of allergens. All these can cause serious inconvenience and disruption in daily life and lead to medical treatment with antibiotics and antihistamines.
